And there's no better way to revel in the festivities than to get some skin in NFL's big game with a few friends and or colleagues ... or Maniacs.

Betting on the Super Bowl isn't for most casual NFL fans.

That's because shady bookies and shady offshore gambling websites don't necessarily promote confidence. And if you don't have easy access to an accredited sensory-frying sportsbook in Las Vegas, Nevada, or something similar, then your options are pretty slim.

Unless, of course, you belong to an online collection of MMA Misfits.

Regardless, the "Super Bowl Squares Sheet" has emerged as a fun alternative. It's an annual Super Bowl game that requires nothing but dumb luck, ensuring that even a blackout drunk like "Tap" -- who could snore through the biggest game of the year if he even bothers to watch it -- can go home a winner even if he has no idea which teams are playing.

Anyway, here's how to play Super Bowl squares game:

  1. Get friends and find a cozy place to gather, eat and imbibe (crash a party if necessary)

  2. Download/print the Super Bowl 49 squares sheet right here

  3. Encourage your "friends" to write their names in the empty WHITE squares (typically for a fee, e.g. $1 per square) until all of them are filled

  4. Store money in a safe place

  5. Write numbers 0-9 on a piece of paper, cut them out and toss into a hat/bag

  6. Pull out one number randomly and write it in the GREY box up top (Patriots) until hat/bag is empty

  7. Put numbers 0-9 back in hat/bag and redraw

  8. Pull out one number randomly and write it in the GREY box down the left side (Seahawks) until hat/bag is empty

  9. Hang sheet in a conspicuous place for all to see

  10. Watch the Super Bowl ... and the scoreboard!

At the end of each quarter jot down the score. You are going to use the last digit in each team's score after each quarter to determine a winner. For example, if the Patriots are winning 14-10 over the Seahawks at the end of the first quarter, whichever "friend" has his or her name in the Patriots "4" square that corresponds/intersects with a "0" in the Seahawks square wins the pot.

Repeat this exercise at halftime, after the third quarter and, of course, with the final score.

There should be four "pots" that are paid out to the quarterly winner(s). How the pots are diced up (valued) depends on the organizer, as well as how much is actually in the till. Keep in mind that final score winner traditionally takes home the biggest pot, followed by the halftime winner. First and third quarter pots are typically equal ... and the smallest.

Remember that Super Bowl 2015 kickoff/start time between Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC channel next Sunday. Therefore, get this party grid filled up sooner rather than later.

Good (dumb) luck, Maniacs!
