While the overnight ratings for UFC on Fox 6: Johnson vs. Dodson from this past Saturday night (Jan. 26, 2013) were strong, they just got even better.
While the initial report stated the event garnered a 3.77 million average viewership, it didn't take into account some DVR or run-over (the event went about 15 minutes past 10 p.m. ET).
After taking all the factors into consideration, the new numbers for the show make UFC on Fox 6 one of the most successful mixed martial arts events yet on the major network with a 4.2 million average.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in the numbers was the peak of 5.2 million viewers, which took place during the main event, a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger John Dodson which was a thrilling five round battle that featured knockdowns and a terrific comeback and showcase of heart from the champ as "Mighty Mouse" retained his belt.
While the event didn't reach the initial UFC on Fox ratings of a 5.7 million average for the first Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez fight, the fact that they aren't too far off with what many believed to be the least attractive of the UFC titles is a very, very good sign.
What's your take on the updated ratings?
