Report: Jon Jones ruled out of UFC 187 fight against Anthony Johnson

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones' upcoming showdown against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187, which takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, next month (May 23, 2015), has been canceled.

MMAWeekly.com reported that "Bones" was forced out for undisclosed reasons. However, social media erupted earlier this evening with wild (and irresponsible) speculation that Jones was involved in a hit-and-run car crash and is in custody of local Albuquerque, N.M., authorities after initially fleeing the scene.

No legitimate sources have confirmed a Jones accident at this time.

In addition, UFC has not confirmed that the fight between Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson is canceled or postponed at this time, either.

Chael Sonnen, though, confirmed it LAST MONTH.

With Jones unable to compete, the Middleweight match up between division champion, Chris Weidman, against Vitor Belfort will likely be promoted to main event status. The Lightweight No. 1 contender eliminator match between Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov would naturally then slide into the pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event.
