UFC Fight Night 57: Bobby Green resilient in the face of his brother's death

UFC fighter "King" Bobby Green has faced as much turmoil outside the Octagon as he has competition inside it.

Green's brother Mitch was killed in a drive-by shooting in Rialto, Calif., back on June 1st, and another brother was shot in September (but survived). Despite these personal problems, his eight fight win streak remains intact

The seventh-ranked UFC lightweight faces a tough test later tonight (Sat., Nov. 22, 2014) at the UFC Fight Night 57 event on FOX Sports 1 against eleventh-ranked Edson Barboza, famous for his devastating leg kicks, but little could be more devastating than what he's already been through.

Green told USA Today he will stand strong no matter what life throws his way:

"No one understands what the life of a fighter is. It's a very hard life. My brother was just killed, and people on social media can come and tell me some things about my dead brother? Some people have no heart. They have no care for a human being, and that’s not what I stand for. This business is tough. You have to have thick skin."

In fact, he views Barboza as being little competition compared to the reaper's cold hand.

"My brother has been killed. You're going to try and tell me that anything is worse than that? That's the worst, so what else can you do to me? This fight is nothing. I've got more sweat outside of the cage."

That may be true, but Barboza has won four of his last five, with his only defeat coming at the hands of Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 11. If Green picks up the win, Cerrone could be in his future (and Barboza would love a rematch himself).

Green vs. Barboza is a fight sure to shake up the lightweight rankings!
