UFC Fight Night 57: Bobby Green hints at retirement following Edson Barboza fight

Say what?

When Bobby Green steps into the Octagon to face Edson Barboza at this weekend's (Sat. Nov. 22, 2014) UFC Fight Night 57: "Edgar vs. Swanson" event in Austin, Texas, it could possibly be his final fight as a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.

That's according to "King" himself, who posted this message on his Facebook page (via Bloody Elbow) revealing that he has been contemplating retirement.

Think this might be my last fight thinking about retirement ‪#‎tired‬

The revelation comes at an odd time for the 28 year-old, as Green has been racking up wins left and right to the tune of an impressive eight-fight win streak dating back to his days competing for the now-defunct Strikeforce promotion.

Usually, a fighter decides to call it a career after going through a rough spell inside the cage. But, that's far from Green's case, as the No. 7-ranked lightweight has been lighting it up inside the eight-walled cage since making his UFC debut almost two years ago.

And in all reality, Green won't be too far from a title shot if he manages to defeat Barboza in Austin.

Though "King" didn't offer up further details as to why he is considering calling it a day -- other than he's #tired -- perhaps he has other ventures he'd like to purse instead of fighting for a living. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what he ultimately decides to do after the dust settles in Texas.

Stay tuned.
