Titan FC 30 took place last night (Fri., Sept. 26, 2014) at The Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas. And in the end, Titan FC crowned the first champion under the Jeff Aronson regime.
Vinny Magalhaes and Jason Brilz went back and forth for three full rounds. Brilz was able to use his wrestling to prevent any of Magalhaes’ many submission attempts from forcing him to tap out. Early in the fourth round, Magalhaes landed a right high kick that stunned Brilz and created the opening Magalhaes was looking for.
The highly decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt was able to lock on a fight-ending guillotine choke just 36 seconds into the round to become the new Titan FC light heavyweight champion.
In the co-main event, Walel Watson completed one of the most thrilling comebacks ever when he caught Anthony Gutierrez in a fight ending triangle choke 3:02 into the first round. Gutierrez rocked Watson early and had the San Diego Combat Academy fighter in serious danger, but Watson kept his cool and won his second fight under the Titan FC banner.
