Earlier this week, ONE FC confirmed its inaugural event on mainland China is set for the Beijing Olympic Centre Gymnasium on October 31, 2014, and it means that Asia's biggest MMA promotion will have been to eight different countries by the end of the year, including four completely new territories.
After a slow start to 2014 with ONE FC holding just one event in the first four months, the schedule has been ramped up intensively with events in Jakarta, Taipei, Dubai, Phnom Penh, and Beijing added to the now traditional two shows per annum in Singapore, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur.
2014 has helped to establish ONE FC alongside the UFC as one of only two major international promotions capable of filling large arenas or stadiums in multiple countries. The signing of Ben Askren at the start of the year was a serious statement of intent but perhaps more significant is how rapidly Victor Cui's promotion has started to expand into new territories.
In July, Taiwan played host to a ONE FC card for the first time. In August, the organization made a maiden appearance in Middle Eastern territory with an event in Dubai while the following month saw Cui's outfit hold its inaugural event in Cambodia.
October's ONE FC: "Dynasty of Champions," which is set for the Beijing Olympic Centre Gymnasium, will be another landmark because it is the first time any major MMA organization has been to mainland China and Cui is excited by the progress his promotion has made.
"The rapid progress that ONE FC has made has exceeded even my expectations. In three years, ONE FC has more than 90 percent of the market share in Asia with a global audience tuning in to every event. We are getting calls from interested investors and potential partners everyday who see what ONE FC is doing and are excited to be a part of the movement."
It's possible ONE FC will be in more Chinese cities before the end of the year, but at present the 2014 schedule looks like this:
ONE FC: "Roar of Tigers" October 17, Putra Indoor Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
ONE FC: "Dynasty of Champions" October 31, Olympic Centre Gymnasium, Beijing, China
ONE FC: "Battle of Lions" November 7, Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore
ONE FC: "Warrior's Way" December 5, Mall of Asia Arena, Manila, Philippines
And much more to come...
