Bonus Watch! Potential UFC Fight Night 51 award winners tonight in Brazil

UFC will deliver another Fight Pass-only night of mixed martial arts (MMA) action this evening (Sat., Sept. 13, 2014) from Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. UFC Fight Night 51: "Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2" features a host of top-level Brazilian fighters and could very well provide plenty of exciting action. Before the action begins, take a look at the special fighters and fights who have the potential to haul in one or more of UFC's performance-based bonuses.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will head to Brazil yet again tonight (Sat., Sept. 13, 2014) when it stages UFC Fight Night 51: "Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2" from Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.

The Fight Pass-only card features a Heavyweight clash between two former Strikeforce veterans, Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski, in the main event. In addition, a Lightweight bout between Gleison Tibau and Piotr Hallmann will serve as the co-main event, while a host of other Brazilian talent will round out the remainder of the fight card.

Without further ado, let's take a look at some picks for some of the fights and fighters most likely to earn performance bonuses for their efforts at UFC Fight Night 51.

Here we go ...

Andrei Arlovski (Fighting Antonio Silva): Following a very weak showing against Brendan Schaub, Arlovski will be under pressure to bring some level of excitement in this fight if he is to get back into UFC's good graces. I think he will do just that, and with his agility and honed striking, he will be too much for Silva, who is the much more sluggish of the two. Ultimately, both fighters can be chinny, but I'd wager on Arlovski being the first to connect big in this fight.

Gleison Tibau (Fighting Piotr Hallmann): This fight seems tailor made for Tibau to succeed, which would certainly be consistent with UFC's tendency to give Brazilian fighters favorable match ups in their home country. Hallmann is a pretty good fighter, don't get me wrong, but I don't see anything in his game that should trouble Tibau ... much less in Brazil. I see Tibau winning this fight through his grappling and possibly securing a submission victory.

Iuri Alcantara (Fighting Russell Doane): Alcantara seems to be just scratching the surface of the elite level of the Bantamweight division. And there is no shame in his loss to Urijah Faber since his drop to 135 pounds. In fact, he should impressively defeats just about any Bantamweight outside the Top 10. Unfortunately for Doane, he will have to learn that the hard way. Alcantara via swift submission.

Godofredo Pepey vs. Dashon Johnson: These are two guys who fight to finish, which means that we're more than likely going to see fireworks between them. Neither boasts incredible technical skill, but they are both game fighters with a lot to offer both on the feet and on the ground. Johnson's explosiveness against Pepey's relentless style will provide for a very fun fight ... while it lasts.

Sean Spencer (Fighting Paulo Thiago): It will be a shame for Thiago to lose in this fight because he is always a crowd favorite in Brazil; however, he is just very, very far past his prime. He has lost six of his last eight bouts, both of which were against rather weak opposition. Spencer -- despite his narrow loss to Alex Garcia -- is a fighter on the rise, and I expect him to impress in this bout, one he should win comfortably.

And that wraps it up for this event.

Although this card is not exactly a must-watch in terms of name value, UFC has done well to put together a night filled with interesting clashes and, of course, a plethora of Brazilian fighters. UFC Fight Night 51 should be fairly exciting and definitely one where some fighters will make bold impressions.

And are rewarded handsomely for their extra efforts.
