The top two Junior Middleweight boxers in the world will do battle this later this evening (Sat., July 12, 2014) when Mexican superstar "Canelo" Alvarez takes on Cuban standout Erislandy Lara at MGM Grand Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

MMAmania will deliver LIVE coverage of "Canelo vs. Lara" Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) event, starting with the main card broadcast at 9 p.m. ET.

Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KO) recently rebounded from his first career loss at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr., demolishing his durable countryman en route to a stoppage win in round 10. For his part, Lara (19-1-2, 12 KO) dominated former Alvarez foe Austin Trout, scoring a heavy knockdown in round 11 to punctuate a wide decision win.

The four-fight Showtime PPV main card will also feature the ever-entertaining Juan Manuel Lopez (34-3, 31 KO) as he tries to build on his knockout of Daniel Ponce de Leon against unbeaten Francisco Vargas (19-0-1, 13 KO).

In addition, Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14 KO) will try to rebound from his loss at the hands of Jhonny Gonzalez when he faces Jonathan Oquendo (24-3, 16 KO), while the evening will begin with a Junior Welterweight bout between Johan Perez (19-1-1, 13 KO) and Mauricio Herrera (20-4, 7 KO), who was last seen arguably defeating division king Danny Garcia before losing a majority decision.
