UFC 166 medical suspensions and injuries: Junior dos Santos, Shawn Jordan and Tim Boetsch face 'indefinite' sits

Memory loss, eye gashes and knockouts galore.

It was hailed as the "greatest fight card ever" when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to "The Lone Star State" at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, this past weekend (Sat., Oct. 19, 2013).

Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation today issued its list of medical suspensions for UFC 166: "Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3." And with amount of carnage that took place on the 12-bout mixed martial arts (MMA) card, which aired on pay-per-view (PPV) in the United States and elsewhere, it's no surprise that several combatants are now facing lengthy layoffs.

Chief among them is Junior dos Santos, who was slapped with a indefinite suspension after Cain Velasquez tenderized his face (see punch face photos gallery here) for more than 20 brutalizing minutes (watch full video highlights here). "Cigano," who later admitted he had "no memory" of the Heavyweight trilogy match beyond round two, will have more than enough time to plot his next move.

Velasquez, meanwhile, retained his world title, but it could have come at jaw-dropping price, with "Brown Pride" possible sustaining a facial fracture, meaning that Fabricio Werdum will likely have to wait until early- to mid-2014 to punch his title ticket.

Shawn Jordan joins dos Santos on the "indefinite" suspension short list thanks to a flush Gabriel Gonzaga over hand right (watch full video highlights here) in the first frame, as well as Tim Boetsch, who endured two accidental eye pokes from C.B. Dollaway en route to a split decision win.

And what about medical ramifications of the sensational Lightweight assault between Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez? Despite the hellacious encounter (watch full video highlights here), both warriors appear to be on the road to recovery sooner rather than later.
