Latest UFC rankings/MMA rankings (welterweight): Rory MacDonald soars, Matt Brown cracks Top 10

Top heavy!

It's no secret who the top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight fighters are today, with division champion Georges St. Pierre comfortably atop the 170-pound perch and Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit treading water right below "Rush."

That could all change when the dominant French-Canadian and "Bigg Rigg" headline UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013, the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion's blockbuster 20th Anniversary show at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Meanwhile, the rest of the division continues to cling and claw, with Rory MacDonald jumping three spots thanks to his unanimous decision win over Jake Ellenberger in the main event of UFC on Fox 8 in late July 2013 (watch video highlights here) and Matt Brown busting his way into the Top 10 with another devastating finish -- this time it was Mike Pyle -- at UFC Fight Night 26 last month (watch video highlights here).

Martin Kampmann actually climbed a spot thanks to his spirited effort against Condit in the UFC Fight Night 27 main event late last month (watch video highlights here), even though "Hitman" was disposed of by "Natural Born Killer" in round four.

As a result of the various outcomes, the SB Nation MMA rankings panel -- compiled by MMAmania.com, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow -- recently reshuffled its list of top 170-pound MMA fighters for UFC and beyond.

Here's what they came up with.

1. Georges St. Pierre

2. Johny Hendricks

3. Carlos Condit

4. Rory MacDonald

5. Demian Maia

6. Jake Ellenberger

7. Martin Kampmann

8. Ben Askren

9. Robbie Lawler

10. Matt Brown

In addition to the Georges St. Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks showdown, expect this line up to change even more as MacDonald takes on Lawler at UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013 (more details here), while Maia collides with Jake Shield in the UFC Fight Night 29 main event on Oct. 9, 2013 (full details here), and Brown trades leather with former Strikeforce 170-pound champion Tarec Saffiedine sometime in Dec. 2013 (more details here).
