Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) official rankings are now live!
Following UFC Fight Night 27: "Condit vs. Kampmann 2," the official media rankings committee reconsidered the Top 10 of every division in the promotion. These rankings are compiled by Fight Metric and are a consensus of the selected media members.
MMAmania.com's George Halvatzis Jr., Michael Steczkowski, and yours truly are members of the committee and updated their rankings following Wednesday's event. If you want to see our personal rankings, follow the drop down bar and select any of our names.
If you're wondering how the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion (in conjunction with FightMetric) compiles its list, here's the criteria:
Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC and a fighter can only appear in one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
The biggest movement saw Rafael dos Anjos move up to the sixth spot in the lightweight division, while his opponent, Donald Cerrone, dropped down to ninth. The only other notable change is that Chael Sonnen is now the ninth best light heavyweight, and Mauricio Rua is barely inside the top 10.
