Josh Barnett hasn't fought under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner since he was stripped of the heavyweight title he won from Randy Couture at UFC 36 on March 22, 2002, for failing a drug test. He later helped bring down the entire Affliction fight promotion when he popped positive once again, leading many to believe his chances of ever returning to the Octagon were long gone.
Never say never.
He's back, and his first opponent will be Frank Mir in the co-main event of tonight's (Sat., Aug. 31, 2013) UFC 164: "Henderson vs. Pettis 2" pay-per-view (PPV) at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Who knows, an impressive victory could put him right in the hunt for the title he once was forced to vacate.
Who would have thought it?
