Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will hold a special media conference call today (July 25, 2013) in advance of UFC 163: "Aldo vs Zombie," which will take place next weekend (Aug. 3) in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
The conference call will begin at 2 p.m. ET. Scheduled to attend will be the headlining fighters of the evening: Jose Aldo, Chan Sung Jung, Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis.
Aldo is the current UFC featherweight champion, having earned the title by defending the WEC title multiple times before the promotion was folded into the UFC. The talented Brazilian has yet to taste defeat under the Zuffa banner, defending his title a total of six times, with four straight coming inside the Octagon.
Jung is one of the UFC's most popular featherweight fighters, having participated in a Submission of the Year, Fight of the Year and scoring a seven second knockout in his three UFC appearances. He's been sidelined for over a year following his thrilling victory over Dustin Poirier last May and the title fight fell into his lap when Anthony Pettis was briefly injured.
Davis and Machida are two of the most talented light heavyweight on the roster.
Machida is a former champion, having knocked out the likes of Rashad Evans, Ryan Bader, Thiago Silva and Randy Couture during his stint with the promotion. He's been knocking on the door for a title shot for six months and is hoping a victory next weekend will finally get the job done.
Davis has relied on his ground game, utilizing his national champion wrestling ability paired with ever-improving submission skills. "Mr. Wonderful" is looking for that signature win to stamp his status as a title contender and a victory over Machida would be just that.
Brian Hemminger here. The conference call will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
