The pay-per-view (PPV) buys for UFC 162: "Silva vs. Weidman" more than likely fell below expectations; however, the live gate was among the best-ever for the world's leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC 162, which took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena on July 6, 2013, tallied a live gate of $4,826,450 million, according to official figures from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) released today.
The final attendance of 12,964 was the result of 10,157 tickets sold and 2,807 complimentary tickets, while 798 seats remained empty.

That's because those in town who failed to pony up an admission fee missed out on one of the most shocking knockouts possible when Chris Weidman ended the seven-year tyrannical Middleweight championship reign with one mean left hand in the main event of the evening.
Meanwhile, in the co-featured fight of the night, Frankie Edgar picked up his first Featherweight win over a game Charles Oliveira, while Mark Munoz and Cub Swanson furthered their respective 185-pound and 145-pound pursuits with pivotal victories over Tim Boetsch and Dennis Siver.
UFC 162, which featured an entire week of Fourth of July fan-inspired activities, including a popular two-day "EXPO" event, was a smash hit at the box office.
