Gegard Mousasi, former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, will make his 205-pound Octagon debut today (April 6, 2013) against last-second replacement Ilir Latifi (not Alexander Gustafsson) at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. MMAmania.com will provide bell-to-bell coverage of UFC on FUEL TV 9 online LIVE all day and (late) evening, including latest results, fight recaps, video highlights, winners, losers, press conference streams and all the post-fight fallout you can handle well into Sunday. Buckle up ... it's going to be a fun afternoon of international combat sports action. And we've got it -- and you -- all covered below.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to stage its latest Scandinavian-inspired mixed martial arts offering, UFC on Fuel TV 9, TODAY (Sat., April 6, 2013) from Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
However, it wasn't easy nor without controversy thanks to local standout Alexander Gustafsson, who was a last-minute scratch thanks to a facial cut he suffered in the final days of training to take on former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi. Ilir Latifi, Gustafsson's training partner, agreed to step up on short notice even though he has zero big fight experience, which is quite the opposite of his fellow Octagon debutant, who is also known as the "Dream Catcher."
In other main card mixed martial arts (MMA) action, Matt Mitrione will lock Heavyweight horns with Philip De Fries, while the prodigious Ryan Couture will make his promotional debut opposite nine-fight UFC veteran and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 winner, Ross Pearson, in a Lightweight affair.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire card TODAY (Sat., April 6, 2013), starting with the Facebook "Prelims," which are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET, as well as the main card, which is slated to air at 2 p.m. ET on FUEL TV.
Many of our readers check-in before, during and after the televised action to share their thoughts on all the exciting action. Therefore, feel free to leave a comment (or nine) before you leave and chat with all the other Maniacs during the show -- it always turns out to be a great discussion.
Keep in mind that we will also be the spot for the latest news, recaps and post-fight analysis after "Mousasi vs. Latifi."
Without further delay, see below for the latest UFC on FUEL TV 9 results. (Note: This will go from the bottom up; therefore, scroll toward the bottom for the latest detailed round-by-round action.)
