Alright, Maniacs, you've now only got THREE DAYS to go from the basement to the big time in less than 60 days.
Remember when we told you that XFINITY Sports -- a major site supporter -- is holding an open audition (scary, I know) to find its next social voice (read all about it here)? Well, that contest, which is hosted on the XFINITY Facebook page (view it here), is about to expire (Feb. 18, 2013).
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!?!?
The contest winner gets an all-access pass (even scarier, I know) to share behind-the-scenes stories and news with more than 15,000 followers from the biggest sporting events in 2013. Applicants (that's you) must create a short video and statement detailing why you should be the next person to take over the @XFINITYSports Twitter handle (can you imagine if it's a Maniac?).
Then what?
Ten semifinalists, which includes two "wild card" spots that will be determined by fan votes (we can do this!), will then be put to the test in a full scale social media evaluation at XFINITY Live! in Philadelphia. The top scoring five contestants will then receive the opportunity to visit an XFINITY partner team to act as a reporter and share their experience with their fans.
Ultimately from the five finalists, the new voice of XFINTIY Sports will be selected.
Sounds like fun. And it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to push a Maniac "wild card" through based on the sheer size and power of our community.
