Ryan Couture will jump right into the fire for his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut as the son of former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture will take on Ross Pearson at UFC on FUEL TV 9: "Gustafsson vs. Mousasi" on April 20, 2013, in Stockholm, Sweden.

The bout will mark Couture's first inside the Octagon since signing with the UFC after the now-defunct Strikeforce organization seized operations last month.

UFC officials announced the 155-pound match up on Saturday morning (Feb. 9, 2013).

Pearson (14-6) is winner of season nine of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show, having fought nine times in the UFC since winning the show. Pearson fought his most recent bouts in the featherweight division, but after a coaching stint on TUF: Australia vs. UK, the 28-year-old returned to 155-pounds to fight opposing coach George Sotiropoulos, winning the fight by third-round technical knockout.

"The Real Deal" is 6-3 over the course of his UFC career with notable wins over Sotiropoulos, Spencer Fisher and Dennis Siver.

Couture (6-1) won't be eased into the UFC ranks as he takes on one of the toughest British fighters in the world for his inaugural UFC effort. The American has made a career of being an underdog thus far, though, as he was expected to lose his most recent fights against Joe Duarte and K.J. Noons.

The 30-year-old fought all seven of his professional under the Strikeforce banner, racking up one TKO, two submission and three decision wins.

It is unknown at this time if Pearson vs. Couture will air on the main card, which airs on FUEL TV, or the preliminary portion of the card, which is likely to stream on Facebook.

UFC on FUEL TV 9: "Gustafsson vs. Mousasi" goes down April 6, 2013 from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The event headliner will see Alexander Gustafsson return to compete in his home country against former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, who makes his UFC debut at the event.
