Originally planned for Sweden, report claims Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano was deemed too 'high risk' and moved to Las Vegas

Hey, what happens if Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano turns into a "bloodbath?" Well, nothing, because the fight is scheduled for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale on April 13, 2013 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And "Sin City" is the fight capital of the world.

But that kind of controlled violence may not sit well with an International audience. Especially one who is just getting used to the idea of men fighting inside the cage, let alone women. And according to a report from Fighters Only, "Tate vs. Zingano" was taken off the schedule for UFC on FUEL TV 9 on April 6 in Sweden as to not upset the apple cart.

The fight was pulled because it was felt by Garry Cook, the UFC VP in charge of UK and European operations, that it wasn't suited to the Swedish audience.

Sweden is a new market and there is still some considerable opposition to the UFC among that infamously liberal and ‘progressive' nation's press. Politically it is a very left-wing country and it was only in 2007 that a 1970 ban on professional boxing was lifted.

Alexander Gustafsson has spearheaded the charge into what has proven to be an unexpectedly lucrative market for the UFC, but the potential for the national press to dislike or misinterpret a women's fight was felt to be too high to risk.

The report refers to the efforts of Garry Cook, the promotion's Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa. With UFC President Dana White promising U.K. fans he was going to "make it happen" on television, now's not the time to start rolling the dice.
