Throw another log on the fire.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 finale now has a main event and no, it's not going to be the last men standing following this season's combat sports reality show. Instead, flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will put his 125-pound title on the line against John Moraga at the April 13, 2013 event on FX, which is expected to go down at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas Review-Journal brought word of the pairing earlier today.
Johnson (17-2) is fresh off a close unanimous decision victory over John Dodson at the UFC on FOX 6 event last month in Chicago. "Mighty Mouse" is about as active as they come, competing for the fifth time in just 13 months and hasn't been defeated since dropping from bantamweight in late 2011.
And the competition isn't getting any easier.
Moraga (13-1) may not be a household name, but he's certainly known by his peers, terrorizing the 125-pound ranks and finishing off his first two opponents inside the Octagon. In fact, the Arizonian hasn't tasted defeat since 2010, when he lost a unanimous decision to the aforementioned Dodson.
MMA math ... you know you can't help yourself.
TUF 17 finale will also feature a heavyweight hoedown between Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Travis Browne while Miesha Tate makes her Octagon debut in bantamweight action opposite undefeated Invicta import Cat Zingano. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more upcoming fight announcements as they develop.
