When you train with Gilbert Melendez, who's fought Josh Thomson three times under the Strikeforce banner, you're bound to get some good intel prior to fight night.
That may be one of many reasons why Nate Diaz is a -185 favorite heading into his UFC on FOX 7 fight against "The Punk," which takes place on April 20, 2013 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
Thomson is a +150 underdog, according to our fiscal friends at Best Fight Odds.
Diaz (16-8) is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision loss to current UFC lightweight kingpin Ben Henderson back in December. His loss to "Smooth" snapped a three-fight winning streak since his return to the 155-pound division after suffering two consecutive defeats at welterweight.
Thomson (19-5) meanwhile, has gone an even 3-3 in his last six outings and was last seen mixing it up with Melendez in what many believed was a controversial split decision loss to "El Nino" at the Strikeforce: "Barnett vs. Cormier" show last May.
Anyone think he's getting "Punk'd" in the betting lines?
