Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today unveiled its first look at the upcoming poster for its UFC on FOX 7 event, which is set to take place from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., April 20, 2013.
UFC on FOX 7 features a Lightweight championship fight between Ben Henderson, looking to defend his world title against Strikeforce 155-pound title winner Gilbert Melendez in the Octagon debut for "El Nino," while another import, Daniel Cormier, will co-headline the event opposite former champion Frank Mir in a pivotal Heavyweight showdown.
That's a lot of current and former champions.
In addition, top lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Josh Thomson (another former Strikeforce champion) will hook 'em up in yet another UFC vs. Strikeforce showdown set for primetime television from inside the "Shark Tank."
The UFC on FOX 7 fight card is still unfinished; however, it's pretty clear that the promotion is looking to showcase its latest influx of mixed martial arts (MMA) talent, which became completely available when Showtime televised its final Strikeforce event in Jan. 2013.
Anyone think that the boys from San Jose will have similar World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) success inside the Octagon or is this latest class in over their heads?
